Checker pairs with Kane analysers from the 455s upwards over Bluetooth and fills the readings in, and has boiler manuals with fault codes built in. OnPoint reads the readings from a photo of the analyser's printout or screen instead, and has no fault-code library.12,13
04A card reader, and QuickBooks or Sage
Checker pairs with a Zettle reader for chip and pin on the doorstep, and syncs with Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. OnPoint takes card and Pay by Bank payments from a link, through your own Stripe account, and syncs with Xero only.14,15
05More F-Gas and refrigeration paperwork
Checker names F-Gas service and leak check records, refrigerant usage logs, installation and commissioning records and maintenance checklists. OnPoint has one F-Gas record, which can bring the equipment and its log across from the last one. For water regulations, solar thermal and biomass, OnPoint has ready-made form templates rather than built-in certificates.6,7,8

It checks the certificate while you fill it in.
OnPoint reads what you've entered: readings that contradict each other, a verdict the readings don't support, an unsafe appliance with no warning notice. Each check says what's wrong and why. It flags and you decide: nothing is ever blocked, and if the certificate contradicts itself it asks once before you send.

Its forms “won't let you skip anything legally required”. It doesn't advertise checks on the readings themselves.8

Bring your customer list
Checker's site says you can export your customers to a CSV file at any time. In OnPoint, choose Import from a spreadsheet, match your columns, and anyone already in OnPoint is skipped. Or send the file to us and we'll import it for you, free.18
STEP 2
Log the certificates that are still in date
Record existing certificate takes the type and the expiry date. It appears in Renewals and reminds your customer until you issue the OnPoint one. Your Checker PDFs stay yours; they aren't turned into OnPoint records.
STEP 3
Add your registration numbers
Your Gas Safe, OFTEC, F-Gas, MCS or HETAS number, or your electrical details, open the certificates you can issue. Then connect Stripe for card payments, and Xero if you use it.
STEP 4
Time it with your Checker plan
Checker's monthly plans have no contract. A yearly plan runs for the twelve months you've paid, so you might start OnPoint's free trial near the end of it. OnPoint is month to month, or yearly if you'd rather.1

Is OnPoint cheaper than Checker?
It depends on your team. On your own, Checker's Lite plan is cheaper: £10.99 a month plus VAT (£13.19) against OnPoint's £19. Checker Pro, which adds the diary, customer database and reminders, is £19.99 plus VAT (£23.99). From two people up OnPoint is cheaper: a team of three is £37 a month on OnPoint and £47.97 plus VAT (£57.56) on Checker Pro+. OnPoint isn't VAT registered, so £19 is the total. How much does Checker cost?
Checker's pricing page lists Lite at £10.99, Pro at £19.99 and Pro+ at £25.99 a month, all plus VAT at 20%. Paid yearly they're £109.99, £199.99 and £259.99 plus VAT. Staff logins are Pro+ only, at £10.99 a month plus VAT for each sub user. Records and reports are unlimited on every plan. Checked on 26 September 2026.
Is Checker good for a sole trader?
Yes, if you mainly need certificates, quotes and invoices: Lite is the cheapest way to get those. Lite has no diary, customer database, reminders or accounts sync. Those need Pro at £19.99 plus VAT, and OnPoint includes them all at £19.
Does OnPoint do oil and F-Gas certificates, like Checker?
Yes. OnPoint has five oil records that follow the OFTEC forms CD/10, CD/11, CD/12, CD/14 and TI/133D, which unlock with your OFTEC number, and an F-Gas Equipment Record that works out the CO₂ equivalent from the refrigerant and can start from the last record at the same address. Checker names more refrigeration paperwork, including leak check records and refrigerant usage logs.
Which has more certificate types?
OnPoint. We count 62 certificate types in OnPoint against 26 documents named on Checker's site. The gap is widest in electrical, PAT, fire alarms and emergency lighting. Checker names more refrigeration paperwork, and it may have documents its site doesn't list. For water regulations, solar thermal and biomass, OnPoint has ready-made form templates you can change, which aren't counted in the 62.

Does Checker connect to a Kane analyser?
Yes. Checker's site says it pairs with Kane analysers from the 455s upwards over Bluetooth and fills the readings into the certificate. OnPoint doesn't connect to analysers. It reads the combustion readings from a photo of the analyser's printout or screen, on seven gas records, commercial ones included, and on the oil service and landlord records.
Does Checker work with QuickBooks and Sage?
Yes, on Pro and Pro+. Checker says it connects with Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. OnPoint syncs with Xero only: invoices and payments go over, and payments recorded in Xero come back.
Does Checker have a customer portal?
Checker's site talks about sending the signed PDF by email or a link by text, and it doesn't advertise a portal. OnPoint gives each customer a link where they can accept a quote, ask a question, pay by card or Pay by Bank, sign their certificates, report a repair, see what's due for renewal and book it.
Does either one check certificates for mistakes?
Checker says its forms won't let you skip a legally required field. OnPoint checks what you've entered as you fill it in, like readings that contradict each other or a verdict the readings don't support, and flags it before you send. The checks never block you: you can always send anyway.
Does OnPoint chase quotes and remind customers before a visit?
Yes, once you switch them on in Settings, under Reminders. An unanswered quote is followed up by email, and by text if you want, a few days after it's sent, up to five times, and it stops as soon as they accept or decline. Customers can get a reminder the day before a visit by email, text or both. Checker's site says it chases quotes on days 7, 10 and 14 and reminds customers 24 hours before a booking.
Can OnPoint book the next service for me?
Yes. Put a customer on a service plan, such as an annual boiler service, and OnPoint puts each visit in the diary before it's due, or lists it for you to agree a day. On a finished job, Book next service books the next one in 12 or 6 months, with the same customer, property and engineer. Checker's site talks about service reminders by email, text or letter.
Does OnPoint sync with my calendar?
Yes. With Google Calendar it works both ways: each person connects their own, their OnPoint jobs appear in it, and moving a job there moves it in OnPoint. Busy time from their Google Calendar shows on OnPoint's diary, with a warning if you book over it. Outlook and Apple get a subscribed calendar link, which is one way. Checker's site says its sync is two way with Google, Apple and Outlook.
Can I move from Checker to OnPoint?
Yes. Export your customers from Checker as a CSV file, which its site says you can do at any time, then use Import from a spreadsheet in OnPoint, or send it to us and we'll import it for you, free. Log the certificates that are still in date with Record existing certificate, so they come round in Renewals. Your old Checker PDFs stay yours. If you pay Checker yearly, that year runs to its end.
Can my office staff use it?
Yes. Every person is £9 a month, and you choose what each role sees: start from Manager, Administrator or Team Member, or make your own. Checker's site says it has one admin with everyone else as an engineer sub user, and that an office role is coming soon.
Is there a contract with either?
Neither ties you in on monthly billing. Both also sell yearly plans, which run for the twelve months you've paid. OnPoint has a 14-day free trial and no card needed. Checker's trial is 30 days.
