Chimney sweep software with one record for the sweep and the service.
The Solid Fuel Appliance Service Record, filled in on your phone. Pick the visit and the record fits it: a sweep leaves off the strip-down checks, a service leaves off the sweeping questions. The customer signs, it goes with your invoice in one email, and next year's visit comes round on its own.
Try it on a wood burner.
Change the visit and watch the record change. The questions, their wording and the check are OnPoint's own, run by the same code the app uses. Tap a square under Ventilation and safety to record a failure.
Blue is what this visit works on. The hearth, the ventilation and the alarm are recorded on every visit.
This visit
Service and sweep
Most visits are both, so this is where the record starts. One document for one afternoon, not two describing the same fireplace.
Both halves are on the record.

OnPoint doesn't grade the ventilation, the hearth or the clearances. Those figures are in Approved Document J and the call is yours. What it catches is a record that contradicts itself.
One visit, from the hearth to the paperwork.
Holly Cottage is a stone house in the Peak District with a wood burner in the living room. Ann Hale books its sweep and service every October. Here's that visit in OnPoint.

The installation, as it was notified
Start with the appliance: its type, the fuel, the output, when it went in and how the work was notified. The certificate of compliance number goes in from the customer's paperwork. OnPoint keeps the reference and the record tells the customer where the certificate itself comes from. Your name, your saved signature and your business details are already on it.

This is a service record, not the certificate of compliance for the installation. That is issued by the scheme the installer belongs to and is sent to you separately; its reference is on page 1 if you have it.

The sweep, and what came out of it
Record how you swept it, where you got in and what came out, by quantity and type. The smoke test and its result, and the draught in pascals, sit beside them. Take photos as you go: the cowl, the deposits, the smoke at the pot. They print on their own pages after the record.

Before you sign
A record that can't argue with itself
OnPoint reads the record as you write it. Safe to use beside a failed hearth, a signature date before the visit, a signature with no name, work outstanding with no defect behind it: each one is pointed out, with why it matters. It never changes what you wrote and never stops you issuing.
Outcome√The appliance and flue are safe to useDefects foundNoneWork outstandingReplace the cowl mesh before next winter.ProblemWork is recorded as outstanding but no defect is recorded against it.
Outstanding work with no defect behind it leaves the customer unable to judge whether it matters, or to get a second quote for it.
Before you leave
Signed on your phone, sent with the invoice
Type your HETAS, OFTEC or sweeping association number in the registration box and sign. The customer signs on your phone. Tap Send, tick the invoice under Also send, and they get both in one email. Nobody in? Tap Send for signature and they get an email or a text asking them to check and sign it from their link. You're told when they have. No signal in the cottage? The record waits on your phone and goes once you're back in range.

The next visit comes round on its own
The next service date fills in from the visit and the interval, a year or six months. Renewals lists every one coming up, and 30 days before, the customer gets a reminder by email, and a text too if you switch texts on. If you take online bookings, they pick a time themselves. Or book it before you leave: Book next service on the finished job puts it in the diary, and Renewals shows it booked.

OnPoint is a young company, but real money already moves through it: the dial is live. Being small means three things for you.
You talk to the people who build it.
Ring or email and you get the team that makes OnPoint, not a call centre.
It gets better every week.
OnPoint is updated every week. Tell us what you still write on paper at the fireplace and it goes on the list.

“The auto-renewal reminders for gas safety records pay for the subscription on their own. No more landlords slipping through. We added properties this year because we could actually handle the compliance.”
“Engineers used to come back at 5pm with stacks of paper job sheets. Now everything's signed on the phone before they leave the customer. Invoices go out the same day. The cash flow shift was instant.”
“We were running the business off WhatsApp threads and a notebook. OnPoint pulled everything into one place. The customer portal alone has cut my admin in half. I'm not retyping addresses or chasing photos anymore.”
Opens with your HETAS number.
Signing up? Pick Chimney sweep & solid fuel and OnPoint asks for it there. Already in? It's under Credentials in your organisation details.
Anything else still on paper? Take a photo of it and OnPoint builds it as a form you fill in on your phone. Work on boilers as well? Add your Gas Safe or OFTEC number and the gas or oil records open too.
HETAS registered, with your number
Switch it on in organisation details and add your HETAS number. It's your own declaration: OnPoint doesn't check it.
Opens the recordGas Safe, OFTEC or F-Gas number
A heating or oil engineer who sweeps and services stoves too already has it.
Already openQualified electrician
The same goes for a business with the qualified electrician setting switched on.
Already openA sweeping association on its own
The registration box on the record takes your NACS, Guild or APICS number as you type it. The membership on its own doesn't open the record.
Doesn't open it
It isn't the certificate of compliance. When a stove is installed, that certificate comes from the installer's scheme, which notifies building control. OnPoint doesn't issue it or send anything to a scheme. The record keeps its reference.
Questions sweeps ask us.
OnPoint is also built for oil engineers, heating engineers and gas engineers.
What is OnPoint?
OnPoint is job management software for UK chimney sweeps and solid fuel engineers. It has one record for the sweep and the service, checks on every record, customer signatures on site or from a link, next visit reminders to your customers, online booking, the diary, quotes, invoices and card payments, in one app for iPhone, Android and the web.
Is the sweep and the service one certificate?
Yes. The Solid Fuel Appliance Service Record asks what the visit was: service and sweep, service only, sweep only, or breakdown or call-out. A sweep only leaves off the eight appliance condition checks. A service or a call-out leaves off the four sweeping questions. The flue checks, the smoke test, ventilation, hearth, clearances, the carbon monoxide alarm and the outcome are on every visit.
Do I need to be HETAS registered?
To open the record, switch on HETAS registered in your organisation details and add your HETAS number. OnPoint doesn't check it: it's your own declaration. If you already have a Gas Safe, OFTEC or F-Gas number in OnPoint, or the qualified electrician setting, the record is open already. Quotes, invoices, the diary and your own forms work without any registration.
I'm with NACS, the Guild or APICS, not HETAS. Can I use it?
The record's registration box takes a sweeping association number as you type it, but the membership on its own doesn't open the record. Without it, start from the ready-made Chimney sweep template: how you swept it, what came out of the flue, the smoke draw test, the checks, your membership number, the next sweep due, which brings it round on Renewals, and your signature and the customer's. The customer can sign it on your phone or from a link you send. It's your own record, not your association's certificate. Bookings, the diary, quotes, invoices and card payments all work without a registration too.
Does it issue the HETAS Certificate of Compliance?
No. When an appliance is installed, the certificate of compliance comes from the installer's scheme, which notifies building control. OnPoint doesn't issue it or send anything to a scheme. The service record keeps its reference number and tells the customer it comes from the scheme.
Does it check the ventilation, the hearth and the clearances?
It records them, and the notice plate and the carbon monoxide alarm, but it doesn't grade them: those figures are in Approved Document J and the call is yours. What it checks is the record itself. It points out a record marked safe to use beside a failed hearth, ventilation, clearance, chimney, cowl or register plate, dates out of order, a signature with no name and outstanding work with no defect. It never changes what you wrote and never stops you issuing.
Will it remind my customers when the next sweep is due?
Yes. The next service date fills in from the visit and the interval, a year or six months, or one you type. Renewals lists every one coming up, and 30 days before, OnPoint emails the customer. Switch on renewal texts and they get a text the same morning too. You can change how far ahead in your settings, or switch reminders off for a single record.
Can I book next year's sweep before I leave?
Yes. On the finished job, tap Book next service and pick In 12 months, In 6 months or another day. It keeps the same customer, property and sweep, and when the visit falls around the record's due date, Renewals shows it booked, so no reminder goes. For regulars, a service plan that repeats every year books each visit a few weeks before it's due, and the customer gets the usual booking confirmation by email. Plans don't bill: you invoice each visit as normal.
Can the customer sign if they're out?
Yes. They can sign on your phone on the day, or tap Send for signature and they get an email or a text with a link to check and sign the record. Their signature then shows on your copy, and you're told when they've signed.
Does it work with no signal?
Yes, for the work on site. Records, signatures and photos save on your phone, and a record you send waits there and goes on its own when you're back in range. Quotes and invoices need a connection, so make those once you have signal.
How much does it cost?
£19 a month for one person, plus £9 a month for each extra person. Every feature is on that one plan. You get 14 days free with no card needed, and you can cancel any time.
How does OnPoint compare with other software?
We've put OnPoint side by side with the other job management apps UK trades use, feature by feature.
Every visit ends with a record. Here's ours.
£19 a month for you, and £9 a month for each sweep you add. No tiers and no add-ons, so a one-van sweep and a team of ten get the same app.
14 days free, no card needed. Cancel any time.
