Why Solo?
Every HiveSuite plan has every feature, so the size of your team picks the plan. Solo is the cheapest that fits one person. We've assumed anyone can use a spare admin seat, which is the cheapest way to read their plans.
About VAT
HiveSuite's prices include VAT at 20%. A VAT-registered business can claim that back, so Solo costs it £29.16 a month. OnPoint isn't VAT registered, so £19 is the whole price and there's nothing to claim back.
Where HiveSuite costs less
With one person on full access, HiveSuite costs less at 3 people, at 9 or 10, from 16 to 20, and from 27 up, where their Professional plan covers unlimited crew. OnPoint costs less for 1 or 2 people, 4 to 8, 11 to 15 and 21 to 26. If you're VAT registered and claim their VAT back, HiveSuite costs less at 3, 8 to 10, 13 to 20, and 23 or more.
Where HiveSuite is the better choice.
HiveSuite is built for UK trades and mobile service businesses of every kind, and it does a lot in one app. If these matter most to you, it may suit you better than OnPoint.

Bookkeeping in the same app.
HiveSuite has a Finance Ledger for income and expenses, VAT reports and budgets, and it reads the figures off a receipt from a photo. Stripe payments land in the ledger on their own.1,2
ONPOINTOnPoint has no ledger. Its reports cover your sales, who owes you and the VAT on your invoices, but not your expenses. It sends invoices, contacts and payments to Xero, and your books live there.

HiveSuite's pages say 18 templates and name 17, so we've counted the 17 named. Both of you can also build your own forms. OnPoint's certificates open with your registration: gas and hot water with your Gas Safe number, oil with OFTEC, electrical once you confirm a qualified electrician, and the EIC, domestic EIC and EV certificates with your scheme number.

The certificate checks itself as you fill it in.
Record a pass on a tightness test the readings say failed, and OnPoint flags it before the record goes out. It never changes a reading and never stops you: you can send it anyway. HiveSuite's templates have conditional fields3, and their site doesn't mention checks like these.

CIS comes off when you pay a subbie.
Split what a subcontractor is owed into labour and materials, pick their rate, and OnPoint works out what to hold back. Each month it adds up the figures for HMRC's return and makes every subcontractor's payment and deduction statement. You still file the return yourself. HiveSuite covers CIS in a guide on its blog11, but doesn't list it as a feature.

In OnPoint, choose Import from a spreadsheet. Upload the CSV or paste the rows, match your columns, and anyone already in OnPoint is spotted. Properties and past jobs don't come across that way, so add those as you go. Or send us your export and we'll import your customers for you.
Keep your renewals coming round.
For each gas safety record, service record or EICR you issued in HiveSuite, use Record existing certificate and put in its expiry date. It shows in Renewals and your customer still gets the reminder, until you issue the new one in OnPoint.
Add your registration.
Your Gas Safe number opens the gas and hot water records, your OFTEC number opens oil, and confirming a qualified electrician opens the electrical certificates.
Connect Xero.
Invoices, contacts and payments go across. If your books are in QuickBooks, OnPoint can't send to it, so talk to your accountant first.

Is OnPoint cheaper than HiveSuite?
For one or two people, yes. OnPoint is £19 a month for one person and £28.00 for two, and HiveSuite's cheapest plan, Solo, is £34.99 with VAT included. At three people HiveSuite's Solo is cheaper, £34.99 against £37.00. Past that it depends on your team size and how many need full access, because HiveSuite prices by plan, so set your team on the receipts on this page. A VAT-registered business can claim back the VAT in HiveSuite's price; OnPoint adds no VAT.
How much does HiveSuite cost?
Their pricing page lists five plans, all with every feature and VAT included: Solo £34.99 a month for 1 admin and 2 crew, Small Team £89.99 for 5 and 5, Growing Team £149.99 for 10 and 10, Professional £249.99 for 20 admins and unlimited crew, and Enterprise £499.99 for 50 admins and unlimited crew. Paying yearly costs less. We checked on 26 September 2026.
Does HiveSuite do gas safety certificates?
Yes. Their site lists a ready-made CP12 (Landlord Gas Safety Record) template, and you can build other forms in their template builder. OnPoint has 17 ready-made gas and hot water records, including the warning notice, the service record and the commissioning record, and checks them as you fill them in.
Does HiveSuite do EICRs and electrical certificates?
Yes: an EICR, an Electrical Installation Certificate, a Minor Works certificate, a domestic visual condition report and a PAT certificate. OnPoint has the EIC, domestic EIC, Minor Works, EICR, isolation certificate and distribution board details, plus 8 PAT forms, 9 fire alarm forms and 3 emergency lighting forms.
Does HiveSuite do bookkeeping and Making Tax Digital?
HiveSuite has a Finance Ledger built in, for income, expenses, VAT reports and receipt scanning, and OnPoint doesn't have one. Neither files Making Tax Digital returns. HiveSuite's own guide says that sits with QuickBooks and your accountant, and OnPoint sends your invoices and payments to Xero, which handles it.
Does HiveSuite handle CIS?
Their site explains CIS in a guide but doesn't list a CIS feature. OnPoint works out the CIS to hold back when you pay a subcontractor, from labour only, at 0, 20 or 30%. Each tax month it adds up the figures to enter on HMRC's return and makes each subcontractor's payment and deduction statement. Neither files the return for you; you do that in HMRC's CIS online service.
Does HiveSuite work with QuickBooks?
Yes, and with Xero. OnPoint works with Xero only.
Is there a HiveSuite app for iPhone?
HiveSuite has a native Android app on Google Play. On iPhone it runs as a web app you add to your home screen from Safari. OnPoint has apps on the App Store and Google Play, and site work saves on the phone when there's no signal.
Can I move from HiveSuite to OnPoint?
Yes. Export your data from HiveSuite before you cancel, because their FAQ says cancelling ends access straight away. Import your customers into OnPoint from a spreadsheet, or send us the export and we'll import them for you. Record the expiry dates of certificates you issued in HiveSuite so the renewal reminders still go out, and connect Xero. OnPoint is month to month with no contract.
Does OnPoint have quote options, recurring jobs and stock?
Yes. A quote can offer good, better and best options with optional extras, and the customer picks one when they accept. Service plans repeat a visit every week, month or year and book it in the diary. Purchase orders, stock in the warehouse and each van, and parts booked out on a job are all in the same app. What OnPoint doesn't do is bill a plan by itself: you invoice each visit, where HiveSuite sends recurring invoices.
Which is better for a gas engineer or electrician?
If certificates are most of your paperwork, OnPoint: it has more of the forms, checks them as you fill them in and emails your customers before they're due. If you want a bookkeeping ledger and recurring invoices in the same app and only issue the odd CP12 or EICR, HiveSuite may suit you better.
How long are the free trials?
OnPoint gives you 14 days free with no card. HiveSuite gives you 30 days free with no card.
