“Take it from me it is truly game changing.”

For 25 years I had a building and maintenance company and the emphasis was always on getting work in and getting work done on budget and on time...

That was the plan but as always there was so much time lost organising various trades, contacting various members of staff and sub-contractors ensuring everyone was where they were meant to be at the right time and right days, then the phone calls every day from new clients, old clients and clients for the jobs taking place, endless hours on the phone eating into valuable time that I didn't really have, then the hardest part of all was the endless chasing of payments owed and payments due, preparing invoices, checking bank statements for payments made, it was never ending and many a late night and very early mornings were spent doing paperwork and invoices before my working day had even begun, the countless hours lost chasing gas engineers and electricians for certificates, sifting through emails for invoices, phoning various members of staff with instructions and passing on necessary information between team members, it got to the point that more time was spent on the clerical side than actually getting the work done and getting paid.

It all came to a head when I decided enough was enough and the business was sold, the endless hours of paperwork and chasing payments had taken its toll.

I then met up with an old friend who had a plumbing and heating company and a construction and maintenance company combined, through this meeting he offered me a position in his company as a managing director, I accepted and my new role started, off the tools and a lot more office based, during my early days in the office I met the company owner's son who was always head down on his laptop working away, I asked him what he was doing each day and he explained to me he was coding and building an app that he wanted to make the everyday working life of business owners easier and to save precious time that is wasted each day and costing business money they didn't have!

Rolling on to the present day of October 2026, this app is amazing, and I only wish that I had the use of ON POINT when I had my own business, it allows you to have a diary of each day with all appointments scheduled in with the employees assigned to each task, showing the clients address, description of work the days required on each project, there is colour coding for each task to show at a glance if the project is ongoing, finished, needs a follow up, requires a quote or invoice to be sent, if a site survey is needed, after the site surveys it will remind the attending employee to write up their report of the visit and allows you to mark and colour code when this has been completed, it allows employees to clock in and clock out ensuring you have a full roll call every day making wage payments so much easier, it allows employees to request holidays add notes for reasons for leave, upload medical and sick certificates, the employees have their individual time sheets and at a glance you can check hours, days worked and go back to the start of their employment.

The app allows engineers to complete their certificates on his phone at the clients house, the customer can then sign it there and then, triggering the automated issue of an invoice, this is all updated for the office staff to see straight away, there is no chasing paperwork or preparing invoices this is all done automatically by ON POINT, it will then send out yearly reminders of services due so the work just keeps coming in without your need to do this manually.

You can prepare all your quotes on ON POINT and then convert them to a job sheet which removes all monetary aspects of the quote so ensuring privacy is kept between you and your clients, the quote can then be converted to an invoice and sent to the client, on payment of the invoice ON POINT will automatically assign the payment to the specific client and deduct part or stage payments always keeping a running total and the best part is that ON POINT will then send automated reminders to the clients until the final balance has been settled, it is truly amazing, no more awkward phone calls chasing payments, no more preparing endless invoices and emails chasing your money it's all done for you.

The app allows you to keep track of one vehicle or a fleet of vehicles, reminding you automatically when your tax, MOT or servicing schedule is due, keep notes on work carried out, damage to any vehicle, assign drivers to each vehicles, record insurance policy details and reminders and do live updates and checks from DVLA so you know your vehicles are always road worthy, road legal, want to sorn one of your vehicles no problem ON POINT will keep a record of this too, want to know where your vehicles are during the day then ON POINT will live track your vehicles and the clients can also check into their customer portal and see where the attending engineers are and how long till they arrive at the job, it will keep track of time spent on the job and no more calls from your clients asking how long or when will the engineers arrive.

How many phone calls do you miss or don't have time to call back or follow up on, well ON POINT will take care of that too, clients can fill out requests for work to be carried out or servicing schedules to be completed or general enquiries can be made and appointments booked on-line, ON POINT will check the diary and only allocate available appointments, ensuring you never have missed opportunities of more work and never any of your employees are double booked.
