Gas is where it starts, not where it stops.
Manifold's records are for gas: the CP12, the CP14 warning notice, the gas service record, and CP16 and CP17 for commercial work.4 OnPoint has 62 certificate types across gas, oil, electrical, fire, emergency lighting, PAT, EV, solar and heat pumps. Each one opens with your registration, on the same plan.
And for the paperwork no scheme prints, photograph your own paper form, or start from a ready-made template, and OnPoint turns it into a form you fill in on the phone. The customer signs it there or from a link. That's open to everyone.

This is the closest the two apps come. Manifold's scans suggest more fields on a domestic record. OnPoint's sit on the same £19 plan as everything else, and so does writing up the visit from a voice note.

Both apps treat a scan the same way: it offers values, and the engineer checks them before anything is saved. Manifold calls it “auto-fill, never auto-trust”.17
03 · YOUR CUSTOMER
Your customer gets a text, and a map.
OnPoint texts customers about their appointment. Switch on day-before reminders and they get a text or email the day before, with the time and who's coming. When you set off and start sharing your location, they get this text and a live map with your ETA. Sharing stops when you arrive, or after 4 hours.
Manifold's docs say email is the only channel for customer messages today, including its on-my-way ETA.6

Customers pay the invoice from the link.
Connect Stripe and the invoice opens in the customer's portal, where they pay by card or Pay by Bank, straight into your own Stripe account. The invoice marks itself paid. OnPoint takes nothing on top of Stripe's fee.
- Split a bill into weekly or monthly instalments, with the card charged automatically if you like, or into stages paid as the work is done.
- Offer good, better and best options on a quote, and ask for a deposit. Once it's paid online, the quote becomes an invoice.
- Switch on chasing and late invoices are emailed the day after they're due, then every 7 days. Switch on follow-ups and unanswered quotes are emailed again too.
On Manifold, card payments start on Growth and are requested against a quote or a job, and their portal doesn't show invoices yet.8,10,19

Is OnPoint cheaper than Manifold?
For one engineer, no. Manifold Starter is £15 a month plus VAT, which is £18 with VAT, against OnPoint's £19. Growth, their cheapest plan with card payments and accounting sync, is £20 plus VAT. From two engineers OnPoint costs less than either plan paid monthly: two people are £28 on OnPoint against £30 plus VAT on Starter. Manifold's prices are per engineer and exclude VAT, and paid yearly they're charged as ten months. OnPoint isn't VAT registered, so its price is the whole price.
How much does Manifold cost?
Per Manifold's pricing page on 26 September 2026: Starter is £15, Growth £20 and Scale £25 per engineer a month, plus VAT. Enterprise is priced on application. Paid yearly, you're charged for ten months. Their site calls these introductory early-access rates, and every plan starts with a 30-day free trial with no card.
What are Manifold's monthly record limits?
Starter allows 50 gas records a month, Growth 500 and Scale 2,500. Enterprise is unlimited. Their docs say a record won't generate once the plan's monthly allowance is used up. OnPoint has no monthly limit on certificates once you're paying.
Do both apps read the data plate and the flue analyser?
Yes. Manifold's PlateScan and FlueScan read the data plate and the analyser screen from a photo on every plan. OnPoint's plate scan fills make, model, serial, type and GC number, and its analyser scan fills CO ppm, CO₂ % and the ratio at low and high rate, with O₂, flue temperature, efficiency and draught as well on the non-domestic inspection and oil records. In both, the engineer checks the values before they're used.
Does Manifold do electrical, oil or fire certificates?
Their docs list the CP12, the CP14 warning notice, the gas service record, and CP16 and CP17 for commercial work. Electrical, oil, fire and emergency lighting certificates aren't advertised. OnPoint has 62 certificate types across gas, oil, electrical, fire, emergency lighting, PAT, EV, solar and heat pumps.
Does Manifold have an iPhone app?
Their docs say there's no native iPhone app yet. iPhone engineers add Manifold's web app to the home screen, and Android engineers can use the web app or their Android app from their install page. OnPoint is on the App Store and Google Play.
Does Manifold send text messages to customers?
Their docs say email is the only channel for customer messages today, including the on-my-way ETA. OnPoint sends texts and emails. Switch on day-before reminders, renewal texts or quote follow-ups and they can go by text too, and when you start sharing your location the customer gets a link to follow you on a map.
Do both have a route planner?
Yes. Manifold's route planner orders the day by travel. In OnPoint, Plan route takes one engineer's day, suggests a new order, starting from their base if you've set one, and fits the jobs back into the same slots once you apply it. Jobs with an arrival window or a fixed time keep theirs, and you can open the route in Google Maps. It plans one engineer's day at a time, not the whole team at once.
Does Manifold work with QuickBooks, Sage or Power BI?
Yes, from their Growth plan: accounting sync with Xero, QuickBooks or Sage, and a Power BI connector. They also have a read-only API and signed webhooks. OnPoint syncs with Xero only. It has an API that reads and adds records, signed webhooks, and reports you can export as CSV, but no Power BI connector.
Can I move from Manifold to OnPoint?
Yes. Export your records from Manifold and send them to us, and we'll import them for you, free. Or import your customer list yourself from a spreadsheet. Use Record existing certificate for each current CP12 so the renewal reminders carry on. Your past Manifold certificates stay as PDFs. OnPoint is 14 days free with no card, then month to month.
Is Manifold in early access?
Yes. Their site says Manifold is in early access, with introductory prices confirmed at launch, and their terms say early-access features may change and come without a service-level agreement.
Which is better for a gas engineer?
If you only do gas, work alone, issue up to 50 records a month and don't need card payments or accounting sync, Manifold Starter costs less. If you do any other trade's certificates, have a team, text your customers, or want every feature on one plan with nothing counted, OnPoint is the better fit. Both have free trials, so try your next CP12 in each.
