The certificates each site actually names
Read the document names, not the feature list
Both products say “certificates”. The useful test is which documents are named. Fergus advertises templated plumbing, gas and electrical certificates — and the electrical ones its own certificates page names are Australian.
We are not claiming they can't produce UK documents. We're saying what is and isn't published — ask them directly if a specific certificate matters to you.
18 gas, 20 electrical, plus hot water and a custom builder — with 67 validation rules behind them. See the full list.
If materials buying is the bulk of your admin, skip this section entirely — their supplier integrations are worth more to you than any of it.
If your week ends in a CP12 or an EICR, this is the section that decides it, and nothing further down changes that.
Fergus's UK page is newer than its home market. Check their current coverage before you rule them out on this alone.
Choose Fergus if
Buying materials is a big part of your week. 100+ supplier integrations import live pricing and invoices automatically, alongside purchase orders and job phases — none of which OnPoint has.
Choose OnPoint if
UK compliance is the job. 39 named certificate types with a 67-rule validation engine behind them, from £19 a month against £39 — and full offline working for the days with no signal.

UK certificates, named and built in
39 types: 18 gas including the Landlord/Homeowner Gas Safety Record, 20 electrical including EIC, EICR, minor works, emergency lighting, fire detection and alarm and the full PAT family, plus hot water and a custom builder. Fergus does not publish a UK certificate range. See the full list.
The validation engine
67 rules across Gas Safe procedure and BS 7671 that block an invalid certificate before it's issued — a GC number contradicting the manufacturer, an unsafe appliance with no Danger Do Not Use notice, an EICR marked unsatisfactory with no C1, C2 or FI, measured Zs above the maximum, CPC below Table 54.7. Each issue says what's wrong, why, and how to fix it. Not advertised on their site.
Entry price, and nothing behind a tier
£19 for the first seat against Fergus's £39, and £9 for each additional seat with full access. Fergus puts forms, checklists, job phases, purchase orders, tasks and full reporting on Professional; OnPoint has one plan with everything in it.
Fully offline
A real sync queue for the whole job — jobs, certificates, photos and signatures — with validation running on the device, so a blocked certificate is caught in the plant room rather than on upload. Fergus does not advertise offline working.
AI on the certificate itself
Appliance details read from a photo of the data plate with per-field confidence and a refusal to guess serial numbers, flue readings read from the analyser, spoken job reports turned into structured written ones, GC number and fault-code lookup. Not advertised on their site.
The customer side
A customer portal with certificate signing, renewals and a question thread on quotes. A public booking page with bookable services, slot holds, a standby list and a gap filler. Live engineer tracking with route ETA and ETA notifications. Not advertised on their site.
Getting paid, and UK tax handling
Payment plans and instalments with saved cards, late-payment interest on configurable terms, a bank feed with automatic matching, and CIS deductions with the VAT domestic reverse charge on quotes and invoices. Not advertised on their site.
Subcontracting, fleet and multi-organisation
A partner network with job offers, a subcontractor portal, completion proof, payout tracking and a hashed frozen dispute evidence pack. A fleet register with DVLA vehicle lookup by registration. Several businesses from one login. Not advertised on their site.
What we can compare
And what public information can't tell you
Fergus publishes “from £39 a month” but not how many full users that includes, or what another full user costs — so a like-for-like team table isn't possible. Here's what is defensible.
Fergus: SMS £8 per 100, card payments 1.6% + £0.20, Enterprise for 10+ staff priced on request, free one-hour onboarding. Prices ex VAT, from fergus.com/uk on 31 August 2026. OnPoint is not VAT registered, so its price is the total. Fergus does not publish the cost of additional full users — check with them directly.

How this page was written
Source: fergus.com · 31 Aug 2026Every claim about Fergus comes from fergus.com and fergus.com/uk as they stood on 31 August 2026. We have not tested it, so where their site is silent we've written “not advertised” rather than claiming they can't do it.
On certificates we've deliberately described what their site names rather than what the product can do — their UK page is newer than their home market, so ask them about a specific document before ruling them out. If anything here is out of date, email support@onpointbusiness.co.uk and we'll correct it.
Straight answers
Including the ones where the answer isn't us.
01Does Fergus do UK gas and electrical certificates?
Their site advertises templated plumbing, gas and electrical certificates, and the electrical certificates it names are Australian — the NSW Certificate of Compliance and the Queensland Testing and Compliance Certificate. There's no named UK range and no reference to CP12, EICR or EIC. Ask them directly about a specific document; we're only reporting what's published.
02Which is cheaper?
OnPoint on entry price — £19 against from £39, or £45 for Fergus Professional where the forms, phases and purchase orders live. Beyond one user it can't be compared honestly, because Fergus doesn't publish what an additional full user costs. Their £2-a-day contractor access is cheaper than a £9 OnPoint seat for someone who logs in occasionally.
03I buy materials every day. Does that change things?
Yes, substantially. Fergus's 100+ supplier integrations import live trade pricing and supplier invoices automatically, and OnPoint has none. If that's where your admin hours go, they're the better product regardless of the rest of this page.
04Which works better with no signal?
OnPoint. A whole day of jobs, certificates, photos and signatures can be completed offline on a real sync queue, with validation running on the device. Fergus does not advertise offline working.
05Is anything held behind a higher plan?
On Fergus, forms, checklists, job phases, purchase orders, tasks and full reporting sit on Professional, and Enterprise for 10+ staff is priced on request. OnPoint has one plan with everything in it from the first £19 seat.
06Can I move my data across?
Yes. Migration help is free — we'll bring your customers, sites and appliance history across, and there are no setup fees. Email support@onpointbusiness.co.uk or call +44 7884 697405.
If the week ends in a CP12, start here.
14 days free, no card. If it ends at the merchant's counter, Fergus's supplier integrations will save you more than we can — and we'd say so on a call.
