OnPoint vs Fergus. Materials, or certificates?

Yes, on the prices each company publishes. OnPoint is £19 a month for you and £9 for each extra person, with no VAT on top. Fergus lists Essentials from £39 and Pro from £45 per user a month, and its terms say tax is added. For a team of five that's £55 a month on OnPoint, against £195 on Fergus Essentials or £225 on Pro before VAT. Fergus's Timesheet and Contractor users can lower its bill for part-time staff.

Fergus's UK pricing page lists Essentials from £39 a month and Pro from £45 a month, and its site says you pay per user. Its terms say fees don't include tax, so VAT is added. Timesheet users are from £12 a month, Contractor users are £2 a day, texts are £8 per 100 and card payments cost 1.6% + 20p. Businesses with more than 10 staff can ask for a custom Enterprise plan. Yes. Fergus's help centre lists 20 UK certificates as a free add-on, including the Landlord / Homeowner Gas Safety Record (CP12), a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, an Electrical Installation Certificate Report and three oil forms. An EICR, fire alarm and emergency lighting certificates, and solar PV and EV charge point certificates aren't on that list. OnPoint has 62 UK certificate types.

Yes, and it's the main reason to choose Fergus. Its UK site says it pulls in supplier invoices from City Plumbing, Wolseley, Screwfix, CEF and more and matches them to jobs, with automatic import on Pro. You can also import supplier price books, and send purchase orders on Pro. OnPoint doesn't connect to any merchant. It has purchase orders you email to the supplier, stock, and supplier price lists you upload as a CSV, but each supplier bill is typed in by hand.

If certificates are the heart of your week, OnPoint. It has 19 gas and hot water records, from the Landlord/Homeowner Gas Safety Record to the CO investigation report, and it checks them as you fill them in. Fergus's UK list has 11. Both are free to try for 14 days.

It depends on what you issue. OnPoint has the EICR, EIC, Minor Works, EV charge point, PAT, fire alarm and emergency lighting certificates, with the BS 7671 test results checked as you go. Fergus's UK list has four electrical certificates plus PAT, and doesn't include an EICR. If you buy from CEF every day and want those invoices matched to jobs, Fergus has the edge there.

Yes. Certificates, including signatures and photos, save on your phone and sync when you're back online, and so do jobs, customers, sites and clock-ins. Quotes and invoices need a connection. Fergus's release notes say its offline mode covers time entries, photos and job notes.

Purchase orders, yes. Supplier integrations, no. In OnPoint you raise an order, from a quote or a job's parts list, and email it to the supplier as a PDF. You receive the delivery into stock or straight to site, and record the supplier's bill against the order, where it counts as materials on the job. A merchant's price list can be uploaded as a CSV to fill in your orders. There's no link to the merchants themselves, so bills are typed in by hand. If automatic invoice import saves you hours every week, Fergus is the better fit.

Yes, both. A quote can offer good, better and best options with optional extras, and the customer picks one when they accept online. A service plan repeats a visit every week, month or year, and either books each one in the diary or reminds you to agree a day with the customer. Plans don't bill on their own: you invoice each visit.

Yes. Import your customers from a CSV file, or paste the rows straight from Excel or Google Sheets, or send us your export and we'll import them for you. Then add your registration to unlock certificates. OnPoint is month to month, and Fergus's terms say you pay to the end of the month you cancel in, so you can run both during your 14-day trial.

Not yet. OnPoint sends invoices, customers and payments to Xero, and payments recorded in Xero come back. Fergus syncs with Xero and QuickBooks.
