- BigChange doesn't publish a price for any team size. Its pricing page says “Request pricing”, and its terms say fees are payable “as set out in your order”. 1,2
- Is there a contract?
- BigChange's terms say services renew automatically unless ended under the agreement or your order.2 OnPoint is month to month, with no notice period and no exit fee.
- Who pays VAT?
- BigChange is VAT registered, so its bills carry 20% VAT.1 A VAT-registered business can reclaim that. OnPoint isn't VAT registered, so £19 is the whole price.

This is the biggest difference between the two, so here it is plainly. OnPoint has no vehicle tracking. Its team map shows where each engineer was last seen, when they set off to a job or finished one, and nothing in between. Live location goes to one customer, only while the engineer is on the way.

Certificates that check themselves
OnPoint has 62 certificate types across gas, oil, electrical, fire alarms, emergency lighting, PAT, EV chargers, solar PV and heat pumps. Each opens with your own registration, not a bigger plan. As you fill one in, OnPoint reads it back and flags where it contradicts itself. The checks never change a reading and never stop you sending. You decide.
BigChange says it produces industry standard certificates, including landlord gas safety records and electrical certificates, and that you can design your own in Microsoft Word.9,10 Its site doesn't describe checks like these.

Records with a next inspection date, like the landlord gas safety record, come round in Renewals, and the customer gets a reminder 30 days before, with a link to pick a time if you take bookings online.
BigChange advertises service reminders and a portal where customers request jobs and download job cards.8,9 It doesn't advertise customers signing certificates from a link.

Paid the way UK trades get paid
Customers pay by card or Pay by Bank from the invoice link, straight into your own Stripe account, and the invoice marks itself paid. Ask for a deposit on the quote, split a big job into instalments or stages, and have the retention asked for when the defects period ends. Working for a main contractor? Your invoice takes their CIS deduction off the labour and prints the reverse charge wording. Paying subcontractors yourself? OnPoint works out the CIS to hold back, adds up the monthly return and makes each subcontractor's statement. You file the return with HMRC.
BigChange takes card payments through Stripe: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, with more methods “coming soon”.16 Its site doesn't mention CIS or the reverse charge.

AI on the plan, not an upgrade
Point your phone at a boiler's data plate and OnPoint reads the make, model, serial and GC number into the gas record. Photograph the flue analyser and the readings go in too, on gas and oil records. Talk through the visit and it's written up as a report, with the parts picked out. It's all on the same £19 plan.
BigChange's AI agents come with Lightning, which its site calls “a platform-wide upgrade”. 13,14 The price of that upgrade isn't published.

BigChange's terms say fees are set in your order and services renew automatically unless ended under the agreement or your order.2 Your order says when and how you can stop, so check it before you give notice.

Take a backup
Their terms give you the chance to get a backup of your data during the term, and for 365 days after it ends.2 Keep the certificates and invoices as PDFs. They don't come across into OnPoint as records.

Bring your customers in
In OnPoint, choose Import from a spreadsheet, drop in your customer list, match the columns and check the preview before anything is added. Or send us the export and we'll import it for you.

Start on your next job
Add your Gas Safe, OFTEC or electrical registration to open your certificates, connect Stripe to take payments, and send your first quote. If you rely on BigChange's vehicle trackers, OnPoint won't replace them.

Is OnPoint cheaper than BigChange?
We can't say for certain, because BigChange doesn't publish its prices. OnPoint is £19 a month for one person and £9 for each extra person, so a team of five is £55 a month, with every feature and no VAT on top. Ask BigChange for a written quote for the same team, then compare it line by line, including the contract term, the monthly support package and VAT.
How much does BigChange cost?
BigChange doesn't publish prices on its website. Its pricing page asks you to request pricing, and its terms say fees are payable as set out in your order. Its FAQ says there's no setup fee, and that the setup fee was replaced with a monthly support package. BigChange is VAT registered, so VAT at 20% is added to its bills.
Does BigChange have a free trial?
Its website doesn't advertise one. The ways in are a demo or a pricing request. OnPoint's free trial is 14 days, with every feature and no card needed.
Does OnPoint have vehicle tracking like BigChange?
No. OnPoint doesn't track vans. Its team map shows where each engineer was last seen, taken only when they set off to a job or finish one, and nothing older than a day. Clocking in never records a position. When an engineer taps On my way, the customer gets a text with a link to follow them to the job, and sharing stops when they arrive or after 4 hours. If you need telematics, journey histories or driver behaviour, BigChange is the better choice.
Does BigChange do gas safety and electrical certificates?
Its website says it does landlord gas safety records (CP12 and CP6), electrical certificates, F-Gas forms and a fire and security certificate pack, and that you can design your own in Microsoft Word. OnPoint has 62 certificate types across gas, oil, electrical, fire alarms, emergency lighting, PAT, EV chargers, solar PV and heat pumps, with checks that flag contradictions before you send.
Does BigChange have AI?
Yes. Its Lightning upgrade adds AI agents that answer questions about your business data, brief engineers before a job, write up visits, send customers a summary and train new starters. OnPoint's AI is on the one £19 plan: it reads appliance data plates and flue analysers into gas records, turns a voice note into a visit report, and builds a form from a photo of your paper sheet.
Which is better for a sole trader or a small team?
BigChange says it serves businesses of every size, and its strengths, like fleet tracking, bulk scheduling and support around the clock, count most in a bigger operation. On your own, OnPoint is £19 a month with every feature, and a team of three is £37. You can start today without a sales call.
Can I move from BigChange to OnPoint?
Yes. Check your BigChange order for the term and notice period first, and take a backup: their terms give you 365 days after the end to get one. Then import your customer list into OnPoint from a spreadsheet, or send it to us and we'll import it for you. Old certificates and invoices don't come across as records, so keep the PDFs. OnPoint is month to month, with no contract.
Is there a contract with OnPoint?
No. It's month to month, with no minimum term, no notice period and no exit fee. If you stop, your job sheets export as CSV files and every certificate is a PDF you can download.
Does OnPoint work with Sage?
No. OnPoint works with Xero: contacts, invoices and payments go across, and payments you record in Xero come back. BigChange integrates with both Sage and Xero.
Does OnPoint work with no signal?
Yes, for the work on site. Jobs, customers, certificates with their signatures and photos, and clock-ins save on the phone and send when you're back in signal. Quotes and invoices need a connection.
