PAT testing software, one appliance at a time.
The PAT Testing Certificate and its equipment, faulty and repaired registers, filled in on your phone. Bring last year's appliances forward, put this year's readings in as you go, and OnPoint checks every row before the certificate goes to your client.

One retest, from the first plug to the last register.
Alder & Finch is a small architects' studio in Bristol. Sam Okafor, of Severn PAT & Electrical, tests their appliances every September. Here's this year's visit in OnPoint.
Before the first plug
Last year's list, brought forward
Start this year's PAT Testing Certificate for Alder & Finch and tap Bring forward list. Last year's serial numbers, makes and models, locations, voltages and ratings come across. Every reading and result is left blank, because this year's haven't been taken yet. It looks the list up online, so do it before you lose signal.
Bring forward the list
The equipment details are copied across; every reading and result is left blank for you to test. Rows already filled in are never overwritten: there are 75 spare rows.

Work down a list, not across a form
On your phone the certificate is a list: every appliance, and how much of it is filled in. Tap one for its supply, readings and verdict, then Next for the one after. Tap a column heading on the certificate to set one value on every appliance you've started, like 230 V. Photos go on it too.

The fault goes on its own register
The extension lead at reception has a cracked plug top, so it isn't safe to use. The Faulty Equipment Register is a document of its own: add the lead, the fault, what you did about it and the serial of the warning notice you put on it. Say a notice went on and leave its number off, and OnPoint points it out.

Without the serial number the notice cannot be traced back to the faulty item.

Back in use, on the repaired register
Fit a new plug and the lead goes on the Repaired Equipment Register: what the repair was, who did it, the date, and whether it's suitable for use. The certificate's last page lists 50 repair codes to quote. Nothing is copied between the three: you add the lead to each register yourself, and together they tell its story.

Your saved signature is already on the certificate: put the date beside it and it's signed off. Tap Send and tick both registers and your invoice under Also send. The office manager gets one email with a link to view and download each of them. No signal in the plant room? The certificate waits on your phone and goes once you're back in range.

The retest comes round on its own
Pick a retest interval, 12 months here, and the retest date fills in from the test date. The certificate waits on Renewals as a PAT retest, and 30 days before, Alder & Finch get a reminder by email, with a link to book if you take online bookings. Switch on renewal texts and they get a text as well. Or book it before you leave: Book next service on the finished job puts it in the diary, and Renewals shows it booked.

You talk to the people who build it.

“Engineers used to come back at 5pm with stacks of paper job sheets. Now everything's signed on the phone before they leave the customer. Invoices go out the same day. The cash flow shift was instant.”
“We were running the business off WhatsApp threads and a notebook. OnPoint pulled everything into one place. The customer portal alone has cut my admin in half. I'm not retyping addresses or chasing photos anymore.”
Eight PAT documents, and one switch.
Switch on PAT testing in your organisation details and all eight open. There's no number to add, because PAT testing has no registration scheme. Add a qualification reference if you want it on record, like City & Guilds 2377. Pick PAT testing when you sign up and you're asked about it there.
Qualified electrician switched on already? They're open for you too, alongside the electrical certificates.
PAT Testing Certificate
Every appliance with its serial number, make and model, location, voltage, rating, fuse rating, insulation resistance, earth continuity, plug, flex and body, and whether it's OK to use. The test equipment, the tester's signature and the date signed, and the retest date. The last page lists 50 repair codes.

Each of the four also comes in a Building Sites Only version for the tools on site: that certificate asks for the tool's make and model, whether it's fixed or unfixed, and the site location. Every document has room for photos, and anything else you still do on paper can be built as a form of your own from a photo of it.
Questions PAT testers ask us.
OnPoint is also built for electricians, fire safety contractors and property maintenance firms.
What is OnPoint?
OnPoint is job management software for UK PAT testers and electrical contractors. It has the PAT Testing Certificate and the equipment, faulty and repaired registers, each with a building sites version, retest reminders to your clients, plus quotes, the diary, invoices and card payments, in one app for iPhone, Android and the web.
Which PAT documents does it have?
Eight. The PAT Testing Certificate, the PAT Equipment Register, the PAT Faulty Equipment Register and the PAT Repaired Equipment Register, and a Building Sites Only version of each. Every one has room for photos, and each goes to your client by email with a link to view and download it.
Do I need a registration number?
No. PAT testing has no registration scheme, so there's no number to add. Switch on PAT testing in your organisation details and all eight documents open. You can add a qualification reference if you want it on record, like City & Guilds 2377. The qualified electrician setting opens them too.
Can I bring last year's appliances forward?
Yes, on the PAT Testing Certificate and the PAT Equipment Register. Tap Bring forward list and the appliances from the last one you did for that client come across: on the certificate, the serial number, make and model, location, voltage and ratings. Every reading and result is left blank for you to test. It looks the list up online, so do it while you have signal.
Does a failed appliance go on the faulty register by itself?
No. Each register is its own document and you add the item to it: on the faulty register, the fault, what you did and the safety warning notice; on the repaired register, the repair, who did it, the date and whether it's suitable for use. Then send them with the certificate in one email.
Does it check my readings?
It checks the PAT Testing Certificate and the three registers against themselves, not your readings against a standard. It points out an appliance marked OK to use when its plug, flex and body check failed, a retest date before the test date, a next test due before the last test on the equipment register, a warning notice with no serial number, and a repair marked suitable for use with no repairer named. It never changes what you wrote and never stops you issuing.
Will it remind my clients when a retest is due?
Yes. The retest date on the PAT Testing Certificate brings it round on Renewals as a PAT retest, and 30 days before it OnPoint emails your client a retest reminder. Switch on renewal texts and they get a text the same morning too. You can change the number of days or switch reminders off. Pick a retest interval and the date fills in from the test date. Each item's next test due date stays a line on the equipment register.
Can I book next year's retest before I leave?
Yes. On the finished job, tap Book next service and pick In 12 months, or another day. It keeps the same client, site and tester, and when the visit falls around the retest date, Renewals shows it booked, so no reminder goes. For clients you test every year, a service plan books each visit into the diary a few weeks before it's due. Plans don't bill: you invoice each visit as normal.
My client has lots of sites. Can they get every certificate at once?
Yes. Every certificate and register you send goes into their portal, grouped by property once they have more than one, and Download all gives them the lot as one zip, or one site at a time.
Does it work with no signal?
Yes, for the work on site. Certificates, registers, photos and contacts save on your phone, and a certificate you send waits there and goes once you're back in range. Quotes and invoices need a connection, and so does bringing last year's list forward.
Can I send the invoice with the certificate?
Yes. Tap Send on the certificate and tick the registers and your invoice under Also send, and your client gets them in one email. Card payments need Stripe connected, and invoice reminders only go out if you switch them on.
Does it work with Xero?
Yes. OnPoint sends your contacts, invoices and payments to Xero, and payments you record in Xero come back to OnPoint.
How much does it cost?
£19 a month for one person, plus £9 a month for each extra person. Every feature is on that one plan. You get 14 days free with no card needed, and you can cancel any time.
How does OnPoint compare with other job software?
We've put OnPoint side by side with the job management apps UK trades use most, feature by feature.
Here's our schedule. Every item passed.
£19 a month for you, and £9 a month for each tester you add. No tiers and no add-ons, so a one-van PAT business and a team of ten get the same app.
14 days free, no card needed. Cancel any time.
