Commercial gas engineer software for kitchens, plant rooms and catering vans.
Fill in the commercial catering record on your phone, appliance by appliance, then the plant room, the testing and purging and the burger van. Get each one signed on site or from a link, and send it to head office with the invoice.

Walk the line.
Tap an appliance, the canopy, the gas proving panel or the emergency valve. The drawer asks what OnPoint asks on the Commercial Catering Inspection Record, in its own words, and Part B fills in as you go.
Answer No and its follow-up questions step aside, as they do in the app. Mark an appliance not safe to use and it goes off on the line, and OnPoint's own check asks for the warning notice, word for word.

One kitchen, signed off before lunch.
The Quay Kitchen is one of five run by Harbour Kitchen Group, and the gas has to be done before the doors open at noon. Here's that visit in OnPoint, from the saved appliances to the money.

The line is already on the record
Add an appliance and OnPoint lists the ones saved for this customer and site. Pick the fryer and its type, make, model and GC number come across. New appliances are offered for the asset register when you close the drawer, so next year starts with them.

The head chef signs on your phone before you go. Or send it, and head office signs from their link when they get to it. Signing adds their signature and changes nothing you recorded.

Sign it and OnPoint asks if you want to invoice the job. The record and the invoice go in one email to head office, with a copy to the kitchen's own address if you like. No signal in the cellar? It sends when you're back up.

Photograph the boiler's data plate and the flue analyser, and the readings come in for you to check. Time the meter with the gas rate stopwatch. OnPoint reads the combustion figures as you enter them and points out any that can't both be right.

Non-Domestic Gas Testing & Purging

Strength test, tightness test and purge on one record. Tap Work it out, put in the meter and the pipe runs, and OnPoint picks the standard and works out the volumes, the test duration and the most the gauge may drop, with the working shown. Tick the figures and it fills the boxes. Record a pass the drop doesn't support and it asks you before you send.

“The auto-renewal reminders for gas safety records pay for the subscription on their own. No more landlords slipping through. We added properties this year because we could actually handle the compliance.”
“We were running the business off WhatsApp threads and a notebook. OnPoint pulled everything into one place. The customer portal alone has cut my admin in half. I'm not retyping addresses or chasing photos anymore.”
Five kitchens, one customer, one portal.
Add a restaurant group or a facilities company once, with every site under it. Each record is filed against its site, and their portal groups every certificate you've sent by site. Head office views, signs and downloads from there, one at a time or all of them as one zip.
Try the filter. Their quotes, invoices and appointments are in the same portal, and when something breaks, the kitchen reports it there with photos and how urgent it is.

Questions commercial gas engineers ask us.
OnPoint is also built for domestic gas engineers, heating engineers and facilities maintenance teams.
What is OnPoint?
OnPoint is software for UK commercial gas engineers. It covers the commercial catering inspection record and the other non-domestic gas records, each site's saved appliances, an IGEM/UP/1 and UP/1A calculator for testing and purging, signatures on the phone or from a link, quotes, the diary, invoices and card payments, in one app for iPhone, Android and the web.
Can I do commercial catering gas safety records (CP42) on it?
Yes. The Commercial Catering Inspection Record is built in. Part A covers the gas installation and emergency isolation, the interlock, pipework in the catering area, ventilation and extract, and three CO₂ readings with their average. Part B covers each appliance: safety devices and FSDs, ventilation, flueing, isolation, hose restraint, gas tightness and safe to use.
Which commercial gas records does it have?
Commercial Catering Inspection Record, Non-Domestic Inspection Record, Non-Domestic Plant Commissioning/Servicing Record, Non-Domestic Gas Testing & Purging, Mobile Catering Vehicle/Trailer Safety Record and Non-Domestic Legionella Risk Assessment. Plus the Danger Do Not Use and Not to Current Standards notices, the CO investigation report and every domestic gas form.
What do I need to unlock them?
Your Gas Safe number. Switch on Gas Safe registered in your settings and add it, and every gas record unlocks, on your free trial too. OnPoint doesn't ask which categories are on your card, so certify only the work your categories cover.
Can one customer have lots of sites?
Yes. A restaurant group or facilities company can have as many sites as you like, each with its own contacts, appliances and records. Their portal groups every certificate you've sent them by site, with a filter, and downloads them one at a time or all together as one zip. Each kitchen can report a repair from the same portal, marked emergency, urgent or routine, and it comes to you to book in.
Can head office sign the record without me there?
Yes, on every commercial gas record. Send it by email or text and they sign it from their link. Their signature is added to the record and nothing you recorded changes. Or have the kitchen manager sign on your phone before you leave.
Will it remind my customers when the next inspection is due?
Yes, on the catering, non-domestic, plant and mobile catering records. The next inspection or service date is set a year on, which you can change if the manufacturer's instructions say otherwise. The record comes round in Renewals, and 30 days before, the customer gets a reminder email. Switch on renewal texts and they get a text the same morning too. The legionella assessment carries a review date instead, two years on by default, and comes round for review. Testing and purging records don't come round.
Does it check what I've written?
On the catering record it reads Part B and the gas installation: a failed safety device on an appliance marked safe, an appliance marked not safe with no warning notice, a failed tightness test with every appliance marked safe, and a GC number that doesn't match the make. On the plant record it reads the combustion readings and working pressures and points out ones that can't be right. On testing and purging it asks before you send a pass that the pressure drop doesn't support. On the legionella assessment it flags a failing control with no risk written against it. The checks never change a reading and never stop you issuing.
Does it work out IGEM/UP/1 and UP/1A tests and purges?
Yes. Tools has an IGEM/UP/1 and UP/1A calculator: put in the meter, the pipe runs and the job, and it picks the standard (UP/1B, UP/1A or UP/1), then works out the installation volume, the strength test, the tightness test pressure, duration and let-by, the most the gauge may drop, and the purge volume, flow, time and end-point, with a checklist before you purge. On the testing and purging record, Work it out offers each figure for its box and fills the ones you tick. It shows its working so you can check it against the standard.
Does it work in a basement plant room with no signal?
Yes. Records, photos and signatures save on your phone and send when you're back in signal. The data plate and analyser scans still read on the phone, and tell you to check every value. Quotes and invoices need a connection.
How much does it cost?
£19 a month for one person, plus £9 a month for each extra person. Or pay yearly: £190 a year for you and £90 for each extra person, which is 2 months free. Every feature is on that one plan. You get 14 days free with no card needed, and you can cancel any time.
I use Joblogic, Commusoft or Gas Engineer Software. How does OnPoint compare?
We've put OnPoint side by side with each of them, feature by feature. Moving across? Send us your customers, sites and past jobs and our team imports them for you, free.
