Certificates that check themselves, read the plate for you, and ask for less.

• Fewer boxes to fill in at allGC number lookups, fields that don't apply hidden, and exact answers filled in.GasElectrical

  Type a GC number and the appliance type, make and model are suggested, with a link to the manufacturer's manual for it. Fields that don't apply to the job in front of you are hidden rather than left blank. And where a standard gives exactly one right answer (a total, a table lookup), it's filled in for you. Where it takes judgement, it's only ever offered, never written.

Customers book, ask about quotes and find their paperwork without ringing you.

• Customers can ask about a quoteCustomers ask about a quote, and you answer on the quote.

  A customer can now ask a question directly on the quote and get your answer in the same thread, instead of a phone call you have to remember to make. You reply from the quote itself, so the conversation stays attached to the thing it's about.

• Send someone their portal link, and take it backSend a customer their portal link, and revoke it when you need to.

  You can finally just send a customer their portal link, by email or text, straight from their record. Until now they only got it as a side effect of being sent a document, so "I've lost the email" had no good answer, and a link that reached the wrong person could not be withdrawn at all. Now it can be revoked. Customers also get a Renewals tab of their own, and landlords keep tenant names and numbers right themselves.

  Roles aren't new, but there's a good deal more you can control with them now, and they're laid out as a grid you read down rather than a list of jargon, so you can see at a glance what a role can and can't do. You can also preview the app as that role before handing it out. Settings have been rebuilt section by section with one save button that won't let you walk away from unsaved changes, and you can transfer ownership or sign out any device on the account.

• Redesigned, end to endOne design system across certificates, sales, the calendar and settings.

  Certificates, quotes and invoices, the calendar, customers, sites, appliances, the calculators and every settings screen have been rebuilt on one design system: one typeface, one icon set, one set of buttons and inputs, and one way a list behaves wherever you meet it. Same data, far less hunting.

• And a good deal moreOutsourcing reworked, timesheets, batch appliances and proper PDFs.

  Outsourcing has been reworked throughout: a clearer board, a proper subcontractor directory, CIS and VAT worked out on payouts, and sealed evidence if a job goes to a dispute. Timesheets you approve, with breaks and exceptions handled for you. Batch upload for appliances. And proper PDFs for quotes, invoices, jobsheets and certificates.

The lookup is written and sits under the GC number on the certificate already; it needs its reference library before it can answer anything useful, so it isn't switched on yet.
